FAQ

Q - How should I prepare for this?

A- Flotation Therapy is perhaps the easiest pastime imaginable. The only precaution that you should take is you should not shave, wax, or tan at all on the day of your Float session. The high salt content of the water can be irritating to freshly shaved, tanned or waxed skin. We will provide liquid bandages if you have any small cuts or wounds. 

Please do not wear any hair or skin products prior to floating. If you have hair coloring that has not set, you cannot float until the color is set and nothing washes out in the shower. Try not to eat about an hour before the float and have an empty stomach and bladder. Avoid caffeine 4 hours prior to your Float.

There is a private shower in your room. You will need to shower before hand in order to wash all oils from hair and skin directly before entering the floatation tank. You will also need to shower immediately afterwards to wash the salt from your body. 

We provide all towels, shampoos and soaps for you so you don't need to bring anything. We will also provide all the small items needed like a blow dryer, comb , cotton swabs, and light snacks if you get hungry.  

 

Q -I'm claustrophobic. How will this affect me in the tank? 

A - This is a common concern, but you are in complete control and can keep the door open, lights on and get out when you see fit. It does not feel enclosed whatsoever once inside. You can start with the door fully open, then try half open, and when comfortable close the door completely if you choose. Most of our clients who are claustrophobic discover that once inside and settled, any feelings of claustrophobia completely vanish. 

 

Q - Is there any risk of drowning?

A - The high buoyancy of the salt water makes it impossible for the individual to go beneath the surface. Once settled it is only possible to touch the bottom of tank with great effort. There are no reported drowning accidents with floating.

 

Q - Can I float if I am pregnant? 

A - Absolutely! In fact heavily pregnant women probably get more relief from floating than anyone else. Just lying on a bed can be extremely uncomfortable for women in the later stages of pregnancy due to the massive gravitational strain placed on the body. This can be a magical haven to which pregnant women can escape. We just recommend that one wait until their body has adjusted to being pregnant before trying any new activities. Therefore, floating should be avoided during the first trimester. 

 

Q - What if I can't swim?

A - There is no need to know how to swim. You will be in no more than 12inchs of water. The 850lbs of Epsom salt will keep you buoyant for you will not need to keep yourself up. The water will do this for you effortlessly.
